The Rumored Woman Book Series sheds light on the power of unconscious choices to hijack a life and the mysterious ways conscious attention can architect it. The characters are wrestling with what it means to ‘know thyself.’
This deeply personal series touches on what is most universal. As a reader, you’re invited to reflect on what gives your life meaning and how following your own longing may lead to a place of belonging, be-longing.
Here on Substack, I’ll share the first 6 chapters of each book in the series—one chapter per week, upon release of the book. Below are blurbs on each book and current reviews.
As I reader, I love to underline passages and write in the margins of my book, as if I’m holding an imaginary conversation with the author. Subscribers are invited to participate ‘in the margins’ with questions or comments on passages/lines that may speak to them. Who knows, it might spark a conversation with other readers.

REVIEWS on REFLECT:
“Poignant, strong, and incredibly thought-provoking.” 5 star review, Chick Lit Cafe
Morgan Magauran’s Reflect is an extraordinary story and peek into the reality of one woman’s open mind… This is a deeply interesting book that completely unwinds the mind.
The characters, Sarah, Ian, and Sarah’s friends are all thoughtfully created with balance and depth. The unique concept of the story expertly creates a bridge between spiritualism and fantasy, which adds plenty of intrigue, making the book hard to resist. It’s just as much an experience for the reader as it is for Sarah.
Reflect is a strong opener to Magauran’s Rumored Woman series, and we can’t wait to read the next book in this remarkable series…” Chick Lit Book Cafe
“This polished novel finds insights in a seeker’s spiritual journey with her own doppelganger.” BookLife Review
This searching and intimate novel from Magauran starts off the Rumored Woman series with a journey into the psychological, the metaphysical, and above all the personal as Sarah, a spiritual seeker, faces not just herself in a mirror but her doppelganger—a counter-Sarah on the other side of “the veil between the seen and unseen worlds.”
Sarah plunges deep into memory, arriving at new understandings of herself, her fear of relationships, and what her life is for. This kind of adventure-into-self storytelling is by its nature episodic, driven by personal discovery… seekers fascinated by interior travelogs will find this a uniquely mature treatment, with psycholgical insights and compelling dramatized incidents from Sarah’s past.
Magauran writes polished, inviting prose and dialogue, attuned to Sarah’s practical concerns.” BookLife Review
REFLECT, Book One blurb
An allegory of our times that delves into the territory of authenticity, faith, and compassion.
Readers will ask anew, what is possible of my life?
Spoken by her guide, Faith
“It’s up to you if I become more than a rumor. You’ve had a sense of me for years. . . . But don’t be fooled, we are not separate. I, like everyone you will meet on this journey, am an aspect of yourself. The choice is yours who you want to integrate. Your consciousness is your most powerful resource; tap into it and re-source yourself.”
Sarah questions everything. How important are the things we cannot see? Is her love for her partner, Ian, the forever kind? Furthermore, is she living her life or the one that’s expected of her?
The one thing Sarah hasn’t questioned is her sanity until the night her doppelgänger appears through their bedroom mirror inviting Sarah to come with her. Sarah accepts. Her odyssey entails inhabiting her inner landscape and reconciling with aspects of herself she had previously dismissed – grief, rage, intuition and instincts. Before Sarah can return, she must unhook from the personal and societal lies she’s been told but mistook for truth.
Ian has no idea when or if Sarah will return. As weeks turn to months, loneliness tempts his fidelity. Professionally, his exploration of how organizations become anti-racist swiftly reveals the cross currents of privilege and injustice he’d personally been blind to.

RETURN, Book Two blurb
“When weird becomes wild and wild become wonderful.”
“Return explores the definition of home in the external and inner realms,
reframing the notion of belonging, be-longing. “
Sarah wakes in an oarless boat, adrift on the sea, heading toward an unknown harbor. With no shoes, identification, or money, and dressed only in a linen shift, she comes ashore. Wandering the town, she learns she’s landed on the Scottish Isle of Iona.
Her plan to return home to Boston crumbles when she’s unable to reach her friends or partner for help. A series of chance encounters provide her with more than shelter and friendship. Later, tension ensues when she finally reaches her partner, Ian, and admits her desire to remain longer on the island, relishing the time to integrate her underworld odyssey and free herself from old patterns.
Over the week, even though her former guide in the underworld, Faith remains invisible, a neighbor, Angus, shares Faith’s capacity to know Sarah’s unspoken thoughts and feelings, including glimpsing her past and future. When Sarah discovers his perceptiveness, it frees her to speak openly, stoking their undeniable attraction. Her vow to act with authenticity and integrity suddenly becomes more complicated to embody.
